Points of Interest:

  • Grobiņa Castle Ruins – The construction of the medieval castle dates back to the mid-13th century, first mentioned in historical records in 1253. The current stone structure was built in 1328. It was a significant military fortress for centuries until it lost its importance after conflicts in 1795 and 1812. Medieval walls, 17th-century bastions, and protective ditches have been preserved.

  • Railway Bridge over the Otaņķe River

  • Gavieze Station – Opened in 1871 on the closed Liepāja-Vaiņode railway line. Initially called "Grobin," it underwent several name changes before becoming Gavieze. The building is now inhabited.

  • Krūte-Bārta Evangelical Lutheran Church – A 17th-century architectural monument of national significance. It retains its original altar and pulpit. Remarkably, the church is wooden with a stone tower, and old German baron graves can be found nearby. Visits require prior arrangement: +371 29439220

  • Bārta Museum – Established in 1985 to explore the local history of Bārta. Accredited in 2004, the museum’s collection grew from 597 to 1,323 items by 2009,  +371 28687254

  • Bārta Catholic Church – Consecrated in 2002, it evolved from a planned chapel into a full church through the efforts of parish members.

  • Memorial Stone for Arvīds Manfelds – Honoring the leader of the regional land improvement company for his contributions to local roads and bridges.

  • Vīles Bridge – Originally built of wood in 1916 by Germans for a narrow-gauge railway. The current structure retains its historic significance.

  • Soviet-Era Rocket Base – A site with remnants from military times, including a naval communications center and storage for ship missiles and nuclear warheads. Guided tours are available by appointment: +371 29242324
