Although you won't see the usual "brown sign" with directions to the trail from the main road just yet, it is still easy to find. Follow the signs to the Ulmales-Labraga Lutheran Church; the trail's starting point is marked with a specially designed trail sign. The route continues away from the sea, winding up and down through the picturesque ancient river valley of the Rīva River. The river flows through a canyon-like gorge, which reaches a depth of 12 meters. The view offers countless river meanders and steep riverbank outcrops, where you can enjoy beautiful nature views and observe a wide variety of plants. If you're lucky, you might also spot a dipper or a black stork.

The river is more suitable for canoeing in spring and autumn.

The trail consists of three sections. The route is ideal for active walkers, and completing all three sections will take approximately 2.5 hours, covering a total distance of 8 km. Several simple rest areas with benches and campfire sites are available along the route.

The first two sections are marked with green signs on trees. The final and most challenging section is not specifically designed or marked. It will appeal to travelers who love untouched nature and are ready to overcome various obstacles such as fallen trees or overgrown banks. To avoid getting lost, it is recommended to follow the riverbank line in the last section, which will lead to the trail's end at the Gumbu Bridge. The route is linear, and you can return via the road. However, please note that public transport does not operate here, so you should plan your return transport in advance or walk back.

When visiting the nature trail, it is recommended that visitors wear comfortable, hiking-appropriate clothing and shoes.

The "Rīva Loops" trail is accessible year-round, with each season bringing its own color to the natural palette. Let's meet in nature and take out only what we bring in!
