Rucava Traditions House "Zvanītāji"

"Zvanītāji", Rucava, Dienvidkurzemes novads

Although the building has acquired a new exterior, its family room has been preserved in its ancient form (the house was built at the end of the 19th century) with items typical of that time, ethnographic objects, and an aura of antiquity. Visitors are delighted by both the rich heritage of Rucava and the knitted mittens and socks made by the local women, which are also available for purchase. The house is managed by the Rucava Traditions Club and the women of Rucava. The "Zvaniķi" (Bell Tower) hosts annual holiday celebrations, particularly Christmas and Easter. Regularly, Rucava Women's Life School lessons take place, and every summer there are "Zvaniķi" summer schools where various skills are taught.

Visitors to Rucava can enjoy the traditional cultural program "Rucava Honorary Feast," during which participants have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the traditional cultural environment of Rucava, explore the region's cultural heritage, taste authentic homemade rye bread with honey, or try some of the favorite dishes of the people of Kurzeme – small pies with white butter, rye bread, or grated potato patties with rich cream sauce, and, of course, sing them together in Rucava songs. Workshops on making traditional Rucava dishes are also available.
