Memorial stone to Jānis Čakste

In the Bernāti Nature Park, at the top of a high dune, stands a memorial stone dedicated to the first President of the Republic of Latvia, Jānis Čakste. On September 27, 1924, while visiting Bernāti, he uttered the memorable words: "There must be a resort here!" and laid the foundation stone for the Bernāti resort. In the summer of 2013, the memorial site was improved with the construction of convenient stairs, two viewing platforms, and benches.
