Narrow-gauge railway van
Atmodas iela 8, Aizpute
Ziedu mazbānītis is a project of the Aizpute women's association "INTEGRO" - "The return of Aizpute mazbānītis decorated with flowers". The aim of the project is to draw attention to the history of Aizpute with the environmental object "Ziedu mazbānītis" and to get it to be seen as a symbol of the city. The author of the large-format painting is Ģirts Brumsons.
Aizpute-Liepāja blew its first smoke on the rails on April 4, 1900 and existed until 1964. At one time, there were railways with five different gauges in Latvia. The Aizpute-Liepāja railway line was not only the first narrow-gauge railway line in the interior of Latvia, but also the only general-use railway line with a gauge of 1000 mm.
