Bunka Church, also known as the Bunka New Church. The first church in Bunka – St. Bartholomew’s Church – was built in 1494 and constructed of wood; it was located in the park of Bunka Manor. In 1609, the church was in poor condition and without a roof. In 1841, a new church was built – St. Anne’s Church – which was consecrated on October 1 of that year. The church was donated to the peasants by Baroness Anna Koch. The parish of Bunka Church belonged to the Southern Parish of Durbe. The church was destroyed during World War II and has not been restored since. Today, the ruins of the church can be seen. Even now, the local congregation continues the tradition of holding a Christmas service at the site of the church ruins each year.
