Aizvīķi Forest Park is a beautiful and engaging destination in every season. The park was established and planted in the late 1880s as the park of Aizvīķi Manor. Alongside native tree species, the park is also home to a variety of exotic trees.
This is an excellent place for family walks with children. In addition to the naturally picturesque forest landscapes, visitors can discover fairy-tale and legend-inspired figures created by human hands, which tell stories connected to the history of Aizvīķi.
Traces of World War II are still clearly visible in Aizvīķi Park, including the locations of bunkers and trench systems. A bunker of the Red Army has been restored within the park.
During World War II, one of the weapons used was the rocket launcher system known as “Katyusha.” Several such rocket launcher positions were located in Aizvīķi Park, and their former sites (caponiers) can still be clearly identified in the landscape today.
