The Semi-Centennial Park was created in preparation for the anniversary of the city of Pāvilosta. Here already in 1927, Pāvilosta elementary school teacher Ernests Schneider planted the first trees together with his students. In May 1929, when Pāvilosta celebrated its 50th anniversary, among the guests of the celebration was also the second president of Latvia, Gustavs Zemgals, who planted an oak tree in the park.
