Nature trail "Rīvas loki"
Start at Ulmale-Labraga ev.lut. church
56.97027, 21.34781
The trail is designed in a direction away from the sea,
winding up and down through the picturesque ancient valley of the lower Rīva
River. The Rīva flows through a canyon-like ravine up to 12 metres deep.
Numerous river bends and steep riverbank outcrops can be seen, along with
beautiful natural scenery and diverse plant life. If you are lucky, you may
also spot a kingfisher or a black stork.
The river is more suitable for boating in spring and autumn.
The route is intended for active hikers; the total distance is 8 km, and on average you should plan around 2.5 hours. Along the route, there are several rest areas with benches and fire pits.
The route is linear, and the return is possible via the road (4 km back to the start of the trail). However, note that there is no public transport here, so you should plan your return transport in advance or walk back on foot.
