Lake Durbe

Durbe Lake is an ancient trap lake located in Durbe County. Clear water, but the lake is eutrophic, overgrowing (aquatic plants, water lilies and algae grow more in the lake). The bed is covered by a 0.5 - 2.5 m thick layer of silt.

Two rivers flow into Lake Durbe - Trumpe and Lāņupe.

One river flows out of Durbes lake - Durbes river.

Lake Durbe forms an important landscape in Durbe county and Lake Durbe is freely accessible.

The floodplain meadows of the northeastern territory of Lake Durbe are included in the NATURA 2000 list of protected natural areas. The nature reserve features natural meadow landscapes, a large variety of bird and butterfly species

On the eastern shore of the lake is Līgutu Park with the manor ensemble. A well-equipped swimming area with a sandy beach, a rest area, a toilet and a parking lot. A suitable place for launching boats in the lake.

On the western shore of Lake Durbe, there is an approximately 10-meter-high observation tower that overlooks the lake. The observation tower can be used for bird watching.

A well-equipped rest area with a car parking lot, toilet, tables and benches has been created near the lookout tower. A suitable place for launching boats in the lake. The resting place is suitable for people with mobility impairments (toilet, one of the tables and a flat entrance to the lake).
