The ruins are located in the Gramzda parish and are unique due to their construction technique. Unlike most of the oldest churches in Latvia, which were built with masonry, the Smaiži Church was constructed using concrete pouring techniques. The church operated until 1952. The tower and walls of the Smaiži Church have been preserved and still fit harmoniously into the rural landscape of Dāma village.
