The Priekule Family Garden
Opened in 2017, the Priekule Family Garden is a popular spot for children’s play and relaxation for Priekule residents. Its creation began on June 1, 2011, International Children's Day, when parents of newborns in Priekule Municipality, along with their little ones, were invited to plant the first trees—oaks and lindens.
In the following years, other plants were added, such as European larch, weigela, Thunberg barberry, juniper, white willow, and three-lobed almond, among others. This revives an ancient tradition of celebrating a child’s arrival in the world by planting a tree.
