On November 15th in Pāvilosta, the annual Lamprey Day will take place, bringing together locals and visitors to celebrate and learn about this unique traditional fishing industry.

A variety of activities will be organized – from creative workshops to delicious seafood tastings. Local producers will offer their products, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The event will be enriched with musical performances highlighting the region’s cultural heritage.

Lamprey Day in Pāvilosta is not only an opportunity to explore fishing traditions but also a wonderful way to meet with friends and family and savor the region’s delicacy – the lamprey!

PROGRAM | 12:00–16:00

  • 12:00 – The celebrations kick off with a concert by the band “Vilki” performing “Songs of the Sea Travelers”. Throughout the day, Arvis Kurmis will take care of the musical atmosphere.

  • Tasty Lamprey Soup in the Pāvilosta style

  • Pāvilosta Local History Museum will present a 3D exhibition: “The Sea Demands a Fine Net”

In Pāvilosta, where ancient lamprey fishing traditions have been preserved in the Saka River, the annual “Lamprey Day in Pāvilosta” will take place on Saturday, November 15.
The tradition of celebrating Lamprey Day with various events was started in 2018 by the Pāvilosta Local History Museum, aiming to attract both local residents and visitors.
